Position Summary:
Odyssey Systems offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Network Services Administrator. This pivotal role supports the NCMC-ITW/AA and Legacy Space C2 enterprises, ensuring the seamless operation of network infrastructures crucial to missile warning systems. We are looking for a dedicated professional to oversee the integrity, reliability, and security of our on-premises network infrastructure in a high-stakes defense setting.
A key focus for this position is to define executable-level requirements, develop, review and design technical solutions that satisfy them; assess existing systems and their existing requirements and designs; identify system problems, review and validate provided solutions to address them; design and oversee the implementation of system upgrades; develop a roadmap for the incremental implementation of capabilities to achieve the customer’s near-term and future goals to ensure the enterprise is expandable to meet future requirements and threats. This position will support multiple projects and programs from NCMC-ITW/AA and Legacy Space sustainment and the execution of existing programs and projects. Odyssey personnel may be assigned the roles of Product Owner and Product Line Manager for an Agile Release Team (ART) and/or System Delivery Team within the program office.
Program: The NCMC-ITW/AA Branch sustains unique ITW/AA Cheyenne Mountain systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide military authorities with an accurate, timely, unambiguous and continuous warning and attack assessment of air, missile and space threats. The Legacy Space C2 Branch sustains unique space command & control systems, networks, and associated components through an enterprise-wide set of integrated mission capabilities, support services, and data products that provide space situational awareness, object tracking, and deconfliction.
This is a full-time position at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO with telework flexibility for local candidates – subject to change per the customer’s discretion.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Implement, maintain, and oversee virtualized network systems, focusing on VMware NSX and SDDC manager configurations.
- Manage advanced network devices, including routers, multilayer switches, and firewalls across various vendors such as Cisco and Dell.
- Create and manage VMware distributed switches and port groups, ensuring optimized virtual network settings.
- Execute a robust patching and upgrade schedule for all network equipment and virtual infrastructure components.
- Uphold network security through effective firewall rule management and access control.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, providing detailed insights across OSI layers 1 through 3.
- Utilize packet capturing tools like Wireshark for in-depth network analysis.
- Monitor network performance, proactively addressing capacity and scalability.
- Address network concerns, escalating complex issues to the technical program manager as needed.
- Foster clear communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
- Guide a team of network administrators to meet program objectives.
- Engage in formal change and configuration management processes to ensure system stability and compliance.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Citizenship: Must be US Citizen
Clearance: Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Education: High School Diploma
Year’s experience: Fifteen (15) years of directly related experience; to include eight (8) years of DoD experience; OR,
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience; OR,
- Master’s in a related field and ten (10) years of experience in the respective technical discipline; to include five (5) years of DoD experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clearance: Active Top Secret
Certification: DoD 8570/DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 or higher, VMware VCP-NV and/or Cisco CCNA
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Additional Experience:
- Prior leadership experience in managing a team of network administrators is a significant advantage.
- Strong practical knowledge of VMware distributed switches, VMware NSX, and VXLAN/GENEVE overlays.
- Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and firewalls, within defense sector environments.
- Proven skills in developing network documentation, with insights into architectural and operational elements from Layer 1 through Layer 3.
- Experience with the practical application of security standards, including DISA STIGs, in a defense-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform regular system and network maintenance activities, ensuring operational readiness and system robustness.
- Proficiency in network administration within VMware/SDDC environments, including managing virtualized networks and security systems.

Hybrid: Telework capabilities for local candidates (percentage of telework allowed will vary based on the customer's discretion)
Travel: Travel may be required to CONUS locations (approx. 10%)
