Company Overview: Utilities One Inc is a leader in providing world-class turnkey solutions for FTTH network construction nationwide. We are now seeking a visionary VP of Engineering to drive the strategic and technical direction of our Telecommunications Division, laying the foundation for our company's future growth.

Role Overview: The VP of Engineering will be responsible for leading the engineering organization, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of our engineering strategies. This senior leadership role will involve oversight of all engineering operations, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring extensive telecommunications engineering experience, strong leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to help us expand our market presence and develop new verticals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Formulate and execute the engineering vision aligned with the company's overall strategy and growth objectives.
    • Lead the transition from strategic partnerships to self-performed engineering, developing and implementing comprehensive plans.
    • Drive innovation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the telecommunications industry.
  • Engineering Operations:
    • Oversee the end-to-end engineering model, ensuring standardized processes, efficient workflows, and high-quality deliverables.
    • Supervise and coordinate the onshore and offshore engineering teams, as well as engineering subcontractors, to ensure project success.
    • Oversee the design and implementation of outside plant fiber networks, maintaining top-tier quality standards.
  • Team Development:
    • Recruit, mentor, and grow a highly skilled engineering team in the US and abroad.
    • Foster a culture of productivity, accountability, and community spirit within the engineering organization.
    • Develop and manage vendor relationships and strategic partnerships to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Business Development & Market Expansion:
    • Lead the development of business cases for market expansion, including fiber, wireless power engineering, and other verticals.
    • Explore and develop new areas of operation, such as Power Distribution, Wireless Engineering, Water Utilities, Civil Engineering and NOC Services.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to support company-wide initiatives.
  • Performance Management:
    • Establish and monitor data-driven performance metrics to ensure engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure that technological resources meet the company's short-term and long-term goals, aligning with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10-12 years of engineering experience in the telecommunications industry, with a focus on leadership and strategic management.
  • Proven track record of leading large engineering teams and managing complex engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of network topologies, including switching, access, and transport networks.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience in business development and market expansion within the telecommunications industry.
  • Ability to mentor and grow engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
