Position Summary
The Associate Actuary will be responsible for supporting Healthmap’s strategic and operational initiatives through data analytics and modeling. This individual will develop pricing and risk models for new or prospective clients, analyze operational results for existing clients, and report results to C-Suite management and external clients where appropriate. This individual will have the opportunity for continued advancement toward actuarial designation through Healthmap’s competitive actuarial program.


Responsibilities
 

  • Develop complex actuarial and medical economics models including trend calculations, reserving estimates, risk score calculations, risk assessments and savings analyses
  • Develop actuarial and medical economic models used to forecast cost and utilization statistics
  • Compile, organize, categorize, and analyze large data sets using SQL
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve business problems
  • Work with various cross-functional teams including sales, data sciences, product development, and clinical services
  • Make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach and work is performed with minimal or no direction
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or similar background
  • Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation preferred
  • 5-10 years practical work experience preferred

Skills
 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with medical economics and actuarial forecasting
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Travel
Limited Travel, Scheduled per needs of the business
