Job description

Overview:

ACAS or a new FCAS requested to participate in program pricing and other actuarial research and development projects for AmTrust Underwriters, Inc. Extensive experience in pricing of primary and/or reinsurance business is a must. Experience in pricing of program business is preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Responsibilities:
  • Actuary will take an assistant role in pricing individual programs/accounts. Will be responsible for development and adequacy of underlying and specific/aggregate excess loss picks and ROEs. Will effectively communicate results of analysis to underwriters and program managers. Will monitor results of assigned accounts. 
  • Actuary will assist with monitoring and interpretation of program results 
  • Actuary will lead projects in data collection and dissemination of results to underwriters and senior management 
  • Maintain communication with IT, compliance, claims, and UW departments on the various actuarial issues 
  • Be responsible for on-time completion of requests from other departments 
  • Work on actuarial research projects regarding pricing and planning. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on pricing and rate development 
Qualifications:
  • BS, BA or higher in mathematics preferred; ACAS or FCAS preferred
  • 2-3 years' experience in a pricing atmosphere on large accounts resulting in actuarial familiarity
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, and VBA preferred
  • Business knowledge should include, but not be limited to basic accounting, finance, and insurance market place
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are a must
