The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Greeter and Program Assistant at the Manchester Police Athletic League in Manchester, NH. This position will assist in making sure all kids and volunteers are in the tracking system to ensure safe programs for all.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Check-in youth and volunteers on the computer using our KidTrax system.
  • Represent MPAL to participants, parents, and the community.
  • Assist new parents and kids by providing information on MPAL programs and giving them a brief tour of the building.
  • Assist with special events.
  • Assist with program-specific tasks as needed.
  • Participate in programs and be a positive role model for our youth if you choose.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Ability to communicate effectively with kids, parents, volunteers/police officers, and staff in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all organization policies. Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner.
  • Must be dependable and punctual. Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public.
  • Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of MPAL participants, volunteers, partners, and donors.
  • Proficient use of a computer

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain understanding of non-profit operations.
  • Learn best practices in youth programming.
  • Gain knowledge of challenges our youth currently face on a daily basis.

Work Schedule: After-school/Evenings, Flexible schedule options. Choose one or more days Mon, Wed, Fri 3pm - 7pm Tues, Thurs 3pm - 6pm

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
