Job description

This is a remote position.

The Client offers advisory services on integrated polices and practices within the food system, climate, healty nexus.

Job Summary

We are looking for an innovative food technologist to provide technical expertise and to assist with the development and review of formulations for current and future products. The food technologist will collaborate with project teams to create new products from conceptualization to commercialization. The food technologist will unleash brand potential, and evolve and improve nutritional quality, flavor, and texture of food products. The food technologist will assist the company to stay at the forefront of new developments and product innovations.

To be successful in this role, you should interpret and apply scientific findings to food, know how to translate findings into innovative products, and understand how to translate business objectives into clear project goals. Top candidates will be team players, and be passionate about product development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Generating new product ideas;

  • Monitoring the use of additives;

  • Controlling production hygiene and quality control standards;

  • Ensuring that stringent food safety standards are met;

  • Identifying and choosing products from suppliers;

  • Evaluating and inspecting suppliers;

  • Testing and examining samples;

  • Writing reports.

  • Liaising with marketing staff



Requirements
  • A graduate degree in food science/technology.

  • Minimum of second class upper (2:1).

  • The ability to work independently and travel to different food processing factories.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially about food hygiene and safety

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • B.Sc. in Food Science and Technology

  • 5 years working experience in food processing.

  • Must be both a Thinker and a Doer – role will require being both a strategic thinker and performing many big and small tasks.

  • Proven track record in providing technical solutions to food processors.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) as well as worker safety, social and environmental sustainability.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Reporting competence
