The Role

In the position of Senior Backend Engineer (Python, AWS) (f/m/d) , you will be at the forefront of developing and evolving our platform, utilizing your deep expertise in backend engineering.

About Northbound

This is a position in Northbound, a venture incubated by MVP Factory.

Northbound is revolutionizing supply chain logistics with a B2B SaaS platform that uses real-time data and AI to improve inbound cargo shipments for trade and manufacturing companies. We enable businesses to better manage their supply chains, leading to significant cost savings, more accurate deliveries and reduced demurrage and detention fees.

Our platform doesn't just offer visibility; it combines milestone data with customer-specific contexts to create optimal operational plans through AI. This approach elevates logistics decision-making, addressing the industry's challenges with manual processes, high costs, and customer dissatisfaction due to delays.

Starting with a prototype in early 2023, weâve now partnered with our first paying customers, proving the value of our AI and automation solutions. At Northbound, we're dedicated to making supply chains more efficient and reliable. The potential to impact global logistics is huge, and we're just getting started.

In the role you will...

Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features
Maintain and develop resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS
Ensure software quality through code reviews and pair programming
Mentor junior team members to elevate the teamâs performance

Your profile

7-8 years as a Backend Engineer with excellent programming skills in Python
Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs, preferably using Flask or FastAPI frameworks
Hands-on experience in building backend using serverless technologies on AWS cloud (Aurora DB - PostgreSQL, Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, SQS)
Experience with writing unit and integration tests using Pytest and executing them in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild)
Good understanding of infrastructure as code (Docker, Cloudformation, AWS SAM)
Interest in machine learning and/or experience with using AI services from cloud providers
Experienced in leading collaboration cross-functionally with a diverse team Â
AWS Certified Solutions Architect, a nice to haveÂ
