Job Overview

We are delighted to represent our client in offering an opportunity to join their team as an Engineering Director. This pivotal role directly reports to the Managing Director and is essential for spearheading the growth of the business as outlined in the company's ambitious five-year financial plan. The position is primarily focused on expanding the engineering capabilities to include new projects such as IEC61850 projects and large transmission projects, potentially setting up an Engineering Team in India. The role embodies significant responsibilities, including representing the company at BEAMA meetings and promoting synergy between the company's India and UK operations. This role requires a dynamic leader who is ready to travel domestically and internationally to meet the company's expansive goals.

Your Mission

As the Engineering Director, you will engage with key stakeholders across various sectors including transmission utilities and academia to understand and integrate emerging technologies into the company's strategy. Your tasks will include supporting the Business Development Manager in technical sales across diverse industries such as renewable energy and railways. You will take charge of developing and executing a multi-year product development plan and foster new customer relationships to promote the joint interests of the company's international operations. Additionally, you will play a vital role in recruiting and building a new engineering team capable of handling groundbreaking projects.

Key Competencies

  • Extensive Industry Experience: Minimum 15 to 20 years in control, protection, and automation industries with a solid background in electronics or electrical engineering.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading a team of 10-15 professionals, demonstrating excellent management and mentoring skills.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and implement growth strategies that align with the company's objectives.
  • Global Business Acumen: Comfort with frequent travel and the capability to manage and synergize diverse geographic operations.
  • Innovative Thinking: Aptitude for embracing new technologies and leading projects in new business areas.
  • Communication Proficiency: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff.

Offer Details

  • Salary: £75,000, based on experience.
  • Location: Hybrid working model, with a preference for Central England as the home base.
  • Travel Requirements: Domestic travel 2-3 days a week and international travel approximately every 2-3 months for one week.
