Job description

Managing Director
  • Establish and lead Ambridge’s office in Canada.
  • Assist in hiring the local Canadian R&W team likely to consist of an analyst and assistant vice president as underwriter.
  • Focus on growing R&W opportunities and building and establishing relationships with brokers/insureds located in Canada.
  • Member of the management team participating in weekly operation meetings discussing industry trends, growth, strategy and budgetary items.  
  • Collaborate with colleagues from Ambridge Europe/Ambridge US to assist in cross-border underwriting. 
  • Manage, train and mentor a team of R&W underwriter, including review submissions and provide mentoring to junior associates to determine whether an insurance proposal can be offered for transactional insurance products including recommendation on pricing and key terms of coverage and exclusions.   
  • Set annual premium budget and growth initiatives. 
  • Review claims and provide any necessary support related thereto to the claims team.
  • negotiate and draft insurance policies with insurance brokers, the proposed insureds and their advisors. 
  • Conduct due diligence to analyze the risk to be insured, including (i) reviewing asset and merger agreements, disclosure schedules, data room materials and financial and operational records of prospective insureds, (ii) leading conference calls with the proposed insured and their advisors to discuss the risk to be insured; and (iii) preparing conference call agendas.
