About the Role
TPG is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Interpreter to provide language services to support our case management work. A successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely interpretation/ translation services and maintain high-quality standards. This position requires strong language skills, cultural sensitivity, and an understanding of the challenges faced by refugee populations.
What You’ll Do
- Perform document translation when requested.
- Perform Oral interpretation when needed.
- Monitor, track, and answer to assignments.
- Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
- Perform credible translation work and submit in a timely manner when asked.
- Strives to further professional knowledge and skills through participation in workshops, professional meetings, and interaction with professional colleagues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical guidelines when handling sensitive information.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry best practices and maintain language proficiency.
- perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice – management reserves the right to revise these duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in translation, interpretation, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have multiple years of professional experience as an interpreter, preferably in a context related to refugee resettlement, social services, or legal matters.
- Court Certified or experience preferred.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certification from organizations such as the American Translators Association (ATA) or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) is preferred.
- Must possess strong computer skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Teams.
- Ability to type 45 wpm.
Work Environment
This is a remote opportunity where minimal travel is required. Since this is a remote role, must have a dedicated workspace conducive to full videoconferencing (camera and audio) for facilitating webinars and online discussions.
Work Schedule
Due to the importance of this position, the Interpreter can be required to work extended hours to include evening work, on-call, and weekends to support time-sensitive or real-time complex services. This is a part-time position but is considered ESSENTIAL. This means you will be required to work during emergency or crisis situations, including inclement weather, natural and man-made disasters, etc. Travel based on project need will be required.
Condition of employment:
- Complete and pass Alta test assessments
- Complete a Drug Test
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- A valid US Driver’s license
Physical Demands
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meeting with other managers and employees.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 10% of the time.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 10% of the time.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
- Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time.
