About The Role


Our Content Innovation Team is seeking a Biblical languages expert to work with our core Languages Team. In this role, you’ll be developing and implementing systems to create and deliver reverse interlinears in multiple languages, expand original language morphologies, and implement technical solutions to mine, curate, and deliver data related to the original languages of the Biblical text and other closely related Biblical disciplines. Additionally, you’ll be working with a team of software engineers to develop new tools and resources to help the Church grow in the light of the Bible.


Responsibilities

  • Provide infrastructure support to our Software Engineers responsible for delivering data sets curated by our Content Innovation Team
  • Create and maintain internal tools that align existing Biblical metadata to unique databases and individual books
  • Develop and sustain internal tools that modify large amounts of Biblical metadata
Requirements
  • Computer science and programming skills in relevant languages (C#, Python, JavaScript)
  • Experience developing, modifying, and debugging software programs, production scripts, and database interactions
  • Understanding of data storage and organization, including relational and "Big Data" mechanisms
  • Ability to uncover and synthesize information from a wide variety of sources when creating original content
  • Organize, manage, correct, and review large bodies of complex data with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to automate the gathering of digital data and create data sets
  • Create models and schemas and format them into data structures

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of general linguistics, especially syntax, semantics, and morphology, along with tools for working with language data
  • Leveraging AI and AI APIs to gather and curate large datasets
  • Understanding and experience with RDF graph databases
  • General knowledge of Biblical Greek or Hebrew vocabulary, morphology, syntax, semantics, and discourse, along with reference resources and original language texts
