Work Location: Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Position Description: This opportunity is for a motivated and independent individual to provide support for all aspects of a multi-disciplinary plant breeding and research program involving controlled environment agriculture. Candidate responsibilities will include care of plants in growth chambers, indoor facilities, and greenhouse spaces. Additionally, laboratory work will involve development of protocols for plant phenotyping and genetics preservation which may include but are not limited to chromatography, tissue culture, and other plant propagation techniques.
 

Qualification Requirements: The position requires a B.S. in plant sciences, agronomy, horticulture, plant genetics, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred. Other degrees may be accepted with applicable experience or education related to job duties. Computer literacy required. Knowledge of experimental design, plant breeding, tissue culture, or gas chromatography is desirable.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with experience and education. The LSU AgCenter has a comprehensive benefits package with a variety of options. Benefits offered would include retirement, medical insurance options, supplemental insurance like dental, life, long-term disability, accident, vision, et cetera), annual and sick leave benefits, and possible educational leave and tuition exemption for coursework at LSU. Specific benefits are determined by job category, percent effort, and length of employment.
