Public Consulting Group (PCG) is a leading public sector management consulting and operations improvement firm that partners with health, education, and human services agencies to improve lives.   


 We are seeking a skilled EpicCare Inpatient Orders to join our team.  Individuals working with EpicCare Inpatient Orders are responsible for managing the electronic order entry and order management processes within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system.


Responsibilities:

  • EpicCare Inpatient Orders administrators or analysts are responsible for configuring the system based on the organization's specific needs. They set up order sets, order catalogs, and order types within the system, ensuring that they align with clinical workflows and best practices. 
  • These professionals facilitate the electronic entry of orders into the Epic EHR system. They work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and complete order entry, including medications, laboratory tests, diagnostic procedures, consultations, and other treatment modalities. 
  • EpicCare Inpatient Orders specialists are responsible for maintaining and updating order sets. They collaborate with clinicians, subject matter experts, and clinical informatics teams to review and revise order sets based on evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational guidelines. 
  • Individuals working with EpicCare Inpatient Orders configure and maintain clinical decision support tools within the system. This includes setting up alerts, reminders, and guidelines to promote safe and appropriate ordering practices. They monitor and optimize these tools to ensure their effectiveness in reducing errors and improving patient outcomes. 
  • These professionals provide training and support to healthcare providers on how to use EpicCare Inpatient Orders effectively. They educate users on system functionalities, order entry workflows, and best practices. They also offer troubleshooting assistance, address user questions, and resolve issues related to order entry and management. 
  • EpicCare Inpatient Orders specialists collaborate with the IT department to perform system maintenance tasks, apply updates and upgrades, and ensure the optimal performance of the order management system. They participate in testing and validation processes to ensure the system's reliability and accuracy. 
  • Individuals working with EpicCare Inpatient Orders participate in quality assurance initiatives. They analyze order-related data, identify patterns or trends, and generate reports to assess order utilization, compliance with guidelines, and overall quality of care. They may collaborate with clinical quality improvement teams to implement changes or interventions based on data analysis. 
Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or Health care preferred OR eight years related work experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience where each year of education equates to two years of experience (four years of experience will be substituted for an associate's degree and eight years of experience will be substituted for a bachelor's degree).
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills; solid communication skills, both oral and written; ability to work in department and interdepartmentally to articulate ideas, negotiate resolution of issues, and achieve objectives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other productivity tools, and assigned applications and technologies; experience with IT Service Management tools preferred.
