Staff Accountant

Finance Department

  

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill a full-time Staff Accountant role with our Finance Department.

The Staff Accountant position optimizes the accuracy of financial information through the maintenance of the general ledger and account reconciliation process; prepares reconciliations and journal entries.  This role will assist with the month end and year close process and prepay financial reporting.

This position attends and participates in periodic finance department staff meetings.

Work is performed. reviewed, and evaluated under the supervision of the Financial Reporting Manager.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, M - F

Location: Office is located in South Portland, ME. This position may work remotely (in ME, NY, MA, AZ, CO) but may need to come into the office at various times. *one day in-person orientation is required.

Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Intermediate level of understanding of GAAP required.
  • High level of comfort with relational databases and MS Excel required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primarily and essential job responsibility.
