The Opportunity**

Your primary objective in working for the Ford Australia Product Development Thermal Attribute team will be to develop & verify the vehicle's thermal performance using CAE methods. As a team member, you will work to ensure all the thermal/climate subsystem requirements are met using CAE methods and working with the wider thermal attribute and application teams. Your role will include presenting solutions both to the working level teams, global counterparts and management teams.

The role will report into the Thermal Attribute Supervisor based at the Lara Ford Proving Ground in Victoria.

This is a hybrid role, and as the customers are always at the heart of what we do, some travel maybe required.

Key Responsibilities**

  • To lead Climate Control CAE tools development including A/C & Heater SIM, and understand CFD for Air-Handling Sub-System development for FOA PD region
  • Work with the propulsion (ICE/xEV) teams to develop CAE models to evaluate performance in combination with physical testing results
  • Work with hardware teams to ensure components and sub-systems meets requirements to deliver expected climate performance
  • Analyse test data to ensure vehicle is exhibiting expected behaviour and passing all requirements
  • Troubleshoot any short falls in performance and propose solutions
  • Document/incorporate lessons learned and be confident in presenting to both at working level and to leadership

Areas of professional exposure

  • Experience in CAE development.
  • Bachelor level Degree in Engineering.
  • Preferred 1+ years of experience in hands on vehicle level attribute development or vehicle testing.
  • Clear understanding of entire Climate Control refrigerant and Air Handling systems and how they interact with vehicle sub-systems.
  • Must understand interactions with ICE/xEV vehicle systems.
