Job Overview:
The Cambridge Solutions Architect with a focus on high performance compute, artificial intelligence, and enterprise solutions is a field-based technologist who consults with customers and builds advanced IT solutions in HPC/AI and enterprise for our customers. By partnering with the relationship sales managers, this individual will design, build, recommend, and sell the latest technologies in the market, apply Cambridge’s unique business model, and leverage long-established relationships with a diverse group of technology manufacturers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Determine customer needs, recommend the best platforms to solve challenges and employ multi-vendor solutions to both existing and net new clients with a focus on IT professionals.
Prescribe solutions averaging +$1M annually to Education, Commercial, Federal Labs, Media & Entertainment, Cloud Service Providers, Research Computing, and Healthcare.
Design cutting-edge and highly optimized solutions for HPC, AI, and ML across a variety of disciplines, with particular emphasis on: Multi-rack-scale compute clusters (hardware, management, scheduler), both x86 and ARM; data storage (parallel file systems, scale-out, software defined); secure containerized environments; high-throughput interconnects (Ethernet, Infiniband, OPIAI, CXL); GPU clusters; disaggregated composable infrastructure.
Specific use-cases will include life sciences (genomic sequencing, bioinformatics, drug discovery); engineering (CFD, geoseismic); natural sciences; deep learning; IoT, and commercial analytics.
Consult on enterprise information technology, including, without limitation, data storage (SAN, NAS, scale-out, object, archival, lifecycle management); data protection (backup and disaster recovery design); server and container virtualization (VMware, Redhat, Kubernetes); CPU and GPU compute; networking (core & edge), firewalls, VPNs and SSE; information security, and other enterprise data center technologies.
Leverage deep knowledge of and relationships with tech industry leaders including AMD, DDN, Dell Technologies, Cisco, Cohesity, Commvault, HPe, IBM, Intel, Juniper, Lenovo, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, Redhat, VAST Data, VMWare, WEKA, and others.
Drive specific demand generation activities with limited inside support. This includes prospecting, calling clients to attend technical lectures, and following up on marketing driving initiatives.
Gain advanced expertise and earn certifications as assigned.
Represent the company in face to face and on-line meetings, technical demonstrations, and conferences, with a high degree of competence and professionalism.
Validate customer deliverables including quotes, proposals, and statements of work.
Differentiate and add value to our solutions by leveraging our Professional Services team.
Build long lasting relationships with vendors, clients, & IT Distributors.
Work earnestly and respectfully with the cross-functional Cambridge team. A high level of respect for your peers and an eagerness to learn are required for your success.
Engage regularly and frequently with Cambridge's internal tools as assigned, including but not limited to: CRM system, document management system, & company calendar.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least 10+ years of customer facing technical experience recommending high value workload solutions, research & development, life science compute, and data-center centric IT infrastructure solutions (data storage, data protection, compute, security, and networking) to IT professionals either for a vendor or technology reseller.
Experience with specific technologies including high-performance computing clusters, high-throughput network solutions (Infiniband, OmniPath, 400GbE), schedulers (UGE, SGE, SLRUM, PGS, LSF), cluster management tools (Bright Computing, Werewolf and xCAT), and parallel file systems (Lustre, IBM, Spectrum Scale, mGPFS)
Enterprise data storage technologies, such as SAN and NAS storage, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, CIFS, and NFS
Windows Server and UNIX/Linux system administration
Expertise developing accounts, writing technical proposals, giving presentations, and teaching employees / customers.
Expert level knowledge of advanced computer hardware, software, and services.
Existing relationships with technology vendors and distributors in the IT ecosystem.
University undergraduate degree required. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and/or advanced degree preferred.
As this is a field-based role, the employee must be able to work remotely, independently, and unsupervised. Travel will be required 25% of the time.

Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis required.
