Job description

In the last few years, software businesses have gone from not having to worry about sales tax, to needing to monitor their tax exposure, calculate local sales tax rates, and file separate returns in 20+ US states and internationally. We’re building the tools that make compliant digital commerce easy for companies big and small.

The Anrok platform connects to a customer’s various billing and payment systems and automates sales tax end-to-end.

  • Monitors where they have tax obligations, based on where their employees and customers are.

  • Streamlines registering for sales tax across the many places they operate

  • Reconciles account balances across their accounting and billing stacks.

  • Files and remits taxes to various governments.

We have raised over $24M from Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures who co-led both our seed and A rounds. We have a hybrid remote model with half the team in San Francisco, and the other half distributed across the US in cities like Seattle, Denver, Houston, New York, and beyond.

As the second software engineering manager at Anrok, you have the opportunity to craft and implement processes for an effective team, help prioritize the roadmap, and coach and develop engineers. We work primarily in TypeScript and React, but prior experience is not required.

In this role, you will:

  • Work on and manage a talented team building innovative calculation, reporting, and payment products.

  • Set the product and technical strategy and implement processes for high quality execution.

  • Recruit and mentor engineers.

  • Foster a collaborative and healthy culture of feedback, opportunity, and growth for the team.

  • Contribute to the Anrok engineering culture and initiatives.

What excites us:

  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with significant experience as a software engineer.

  • Track record of figuring out how to set individuals and teams up for success.

  • You are technical enough to guide the team through product and technical decisions.

What we offer:

  • The equity upside of an early stage startup with the product-market fit of a later stage company.

  • Work where you want: the Anrok SF office or wherever you call home.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance covered 100%.

  • One Medical membership covered, flexible sick benefits and more.

  • Generous PTO and parental leave.

  • Annual learning and development stipend for books, online courses, and conferences, as well as a curious team to share your learnings with.

  • Bi-annual team offsites.

  • All the latest gadgets you need to thrive at work.
