This is a full-time position in the Craft & Hawkins Dept of Petroleum Engineering. The incumbent in this DOE-funded position will perform research on Carbon dioxide (CO2) geological storage and application to shale gas/oil recovery. The post-doctoral researcher will develop and perform analytical and numerical modeling for coupled processes related to flow in porous media especially in low-permeability shale reservoirs. Apply the developed models to investigate effect of properties of interest and the monitorability of the operation. Prepare and submit journal manuscript(s) of the conducted research in a timely fashion. Present project results to internal and external parties. The successful candidate will preferably have a track record of publication in peer-reviewed international journals with good communication skills. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. Specific experience in (1) Fundamentals of flow in porous media, (2) reservoir characterization, and (3) ability to use existing geological and flow modelling tools (e.g. Petrel, CMG).
Preferred qualification:
PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. Specific experience in fundamental understanding of the concepts and mathematics of the coupled fluid flow processes in porous media and its application in reservoir engineering.
