What we need
The Director, Customer Site Operations, International (Mexico) is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing operational excellence at our customer sites in Mexico. This role oversees day-to-day site operations, leads key initiatives, and manages cross-functional projects that align with business goals. The Director will champion process improvement, drive operational efficiency, and lead a high-performing team to deliver consistent, and quality service. A critical aspect of this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with internal partners and customers, ensuring alignment, satisfaction, and sustained success across all engagements.
In addition, in support of and leading up to our sites going live, this role will provide project management and cross-functional collaboration across Symbotic’s customer sites in Mexico. This role will drive process improvements, ensure operational efficiency, and manage key projects to meet business objectives. This role will foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers to deliver exceptional service and results.
What you'll do
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders (e.g., engineering, supply chain, quality, HR, finance, IT and tech) to ensure connectivity and collaboration, successful go live of customer site operations in Mexico, and timely project execution within budgetary constraints.
Develop project plans, set milestones and KPIs, and monitor progress while ensuring project related updates, risks, and escalations are managed.
Implement and maintain operational policies, procedures, and processes to optimize performance and ensure compliance with applicable local laws and business standards in Mexico.
Develop and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers, contractors and other 3rd party labor to ensure seamless operations across international customer sites.
Oversee day-to-day operations at multiple customer sites in Mexico to ensure alignment with company goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Validate warehouse capacity planning in coordination with Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning teams.
Analyze workloads and allocate resources effectively to achieve productivity benchmarks.
Build, develop, and manage a high-performing team by recruiting top talent, providing training opportunities, and fostering a culture of accountability.
Supervise personnel matters including staffing, evaluations, payroll, recruitment, and training.
Provide mentorship and leadership development for team members to build local competencies in logistics, automation, and innovation.
Serve as the primary customer liaison, addressing operational challenges, ensuring satisfaction, and delivering tailored solutions that align with customer needs.
Represent the company in meetings and site visits, providing updates and resolving concerns to strengthen customer relationships.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in operations and implementing innovative solutions.
Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate automation systems effectively into customer facilities.
Ensure all facilities under your supervision meet local safety standards and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Promote a culture of safety by enforcing policies.
Special projects and related duties as requested.
What you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or equivalent, MBA preferred
Fluency in Spanish is essential, with English proficiency also required for international communication
Ability to work in Mexico, with frequent travel to customer sites within the country.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics
Minimum 7 years’ experience in involvement with automated systems and/or distribution and material handling systems; preferred.
Warehouse experience utilizing digital technologies and innovation.
Strong people leadership and talent developer experience.
Experience in managing multiple projects, high level scheduling managing within budget.
Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Excel PowerPivot, SQL) for operational insights that inform decision-making.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing projects across broad internal (business leadership, sales/solutions, hardware and software engineering, etc.) & external stakeholders (client leadership, general contractors, architects, subcontractors).
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Our Environment
Remote, field-based position.
Travel is required 50% to 75% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations in Mexico and United States
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
Our headquarters is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning. (Commissioning Team)
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness)
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground
Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
