Job Description

The Director, Trade Relations will play a critical role in the development and execution of the trade and distribution strategy for Sobi’s product portfolio. This role is responsible for leading negotiations on trade contracts, building and maintaining strong business relationships with trade accounts, and ensuring the successful implementation of distribution agreements. Additionally, the Director, Trade Relations will collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive brand performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic initiatives to maximize opportunities with channel partners across the Sobi portfolio, achieving performance goals for distribution partners.
  • Establish and maintain multi-level relationships with assigned trade accounts, including conducting quarterly business reviews with key customers.
  • Negotiate and manage contractual agreements with wholesalers, specialty pharmacies, distributors, and other channel partners.
  • Build strong relationships with wholesalers and specialty pharmacies to ensure awareness of Sobi’s products and pricing.
  • Support day-to-day activities with distribution partners to ensure effective and efficient delivery of products to end-user customers.
  • Analyze the local environment and align Sobi’s priorities to develop trade customer plans that deliver on defined business objectives.
  • Monitor trade customers’ adherence to Distribution Services Agreements and take appropriate action when necessary (e.g., monitoring customer contacts, plan execution, service fees, and market share).
  • Review and monitor daily trade sales to ensure purchases align with demand.
  • Oversee trade customer returns to ensure compliance with Sobi’s Returns Policy.
  • Maintain open communication across the organization, particularly regarding cross-region and cross-functional customer efforts.
  • Provide insights on channel trends and monitor distribution services to ensure optimal performance.
  • Exercise sound judgment to ensure integrity and compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines in all activities and communications.
  • Attend, staff, and participate in meetings and conferences as requested by management.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 5+ years of management experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including contracting and negotiation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Proven success in driving sales through effective account development and implementation.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in establishing high-level customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Strong customer focus, both internal and external.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly visible environment.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and incomplete information.
  • Valid state driver’s license with proof of state minimum vehicle insurance.

Travel

This role requires the ability and willingness to conduct field travel, including overnight travel (>50%), to attend sales meetings, visit client sites, and support other business needs

Additional Information

The base salary pay range for this role is $175,000-$240,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
