This role will own the communications platform. They will partner with various teams throughout Zillow to understand their needs, painpoints, and requests. They will work closely with the communications platform engineering team to build the right features in the appropriate manner to be a true platform and support all of Zillow. Additionally, this person will need to focus on the end customer and not just internal engineering teams as the platform is responsible for the customer’s aggregated communications experience. Lastly, this role will require someone to not just lead the execution, but provide the long-term and short-term strategy for the platform.

U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $145,500.00 - $232,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.Own the roadmap of the platform engineering team, including leading the execution of deliverables, epics, and user stories.
Coordinate with the engineering manager on sprint ceremonies and planning.
Define and refine the platform strategy regularly.
Regular presentations, roadshows, and pitches to showcase the value and function of the platform.
Collaboration across Zillow to understand internal teams visions and plans and translate those into concrete requirements that lead to features and deliverables that the platform produces.
Prioritize and trade-off many different initiatives, ensuring we are always optimizing our efforts and building the most important item.
Write platform documentation, including technical diagrams and API documentation
Define what needs to be built, including the technical aspects of the platform.
Meet with internal engineering teams and understand the technical aspects of the platform well enough that you can work with the engineering partners without needing the platform engineering teams assistance
Define clear, measurable goals that will provide the focus and direction for the platform.
Build the appropriate data visualizations that will be reviewed in a weekly business review to track progress on goals and platform performance
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
1-2 years of Technical experience (engineering, data science, etc.)
3-5 years of product management experience, preferably in a platform-focused role
Strong SQL skills
AI capabilities: Prototyping in Replit (or equivalent)
Preferred: product experience working in communications
