The Senior Data Engineer will have the opportunity to work remotely from within the United States.

Cherry Bekaert is one of the country’s top public accounting firms and based on our growth and is looking for a Data Engineer on our Application and Analytics team. This position can be based either in Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC, Tampa, FL with an ability to work remotely. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will: 

  • Data Architecture – Support our data architecture, data engineering, DBA and data integration specialists to ensure the enterprise data lakehouse is built to best support reporting and analytics requirements, both now and for future capabilities. Includes data modeling to support the architecture and designs.
  •  Responsible for defining data to facilitate easier integration, effective retrieval of data for both internal applications and external communication.
  •  Data modeling – working closely with data architects and data engineers to build and maintain our enterprise data lake and employ data models to be consumed for analytics.
  •  Master data and transaction data management - Design and Maintenance
  • Planning & Solution Delivery – Work with the department manager and IT project management to define the scope and schedule for delivering data integration solutions. Proactively monitor delivery risks and issues.  Strive to deliver work packages to agreed upon schedule and budget. Contribute to the overall application development team plan.
  •  Data Transformations/Transfer (ETL), Enterprise applications interfaces and data Integration, Cloud Integrations. csv file delivery, Data delivery, and System data integration
  •  Data and Integration Architecture – Bring your expertise to help us create best in class solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and APIs to integrate data from a variety of hosted and on-premises enterprise solutions supporting Operations, HR, Finance, Marketing, etc. into our internal environment for data warehousing, reporting, and analytics. 
  • Database implementation and administration, SQL Server Administration/ Installation, Database backups and restores
  • Requirements Gathering – Work directly with our business partners to identify, understand, and translate key metrics into high quality analytics solutions designed to enhance and improve critical business processes.
  • Provide operational support to numerous areas of the firm in assisting with their needs in data integration and necessary metrics to support their reporting needs.
  • Standards & guidelines, policies and procedures, iterative solutioning supporting business analytics teams and thorough documentation.\
  • Governance – Work with subject matter experts to build solutions developing and using approved calculations and data elements, emphasizing proper data governance.  
  • Risk & Compliance – Ensure that all BI solutions are designed and built to comply with, and at all times, adhere to Cherry Bekaert security, data privacy and other risk & compliance policies, procedures and controls.

What you bring to the table: 

  • 3+ years working with enterprise-wide data and analytics solutions
  • Experience with SQL and Python preferred
  • Databricks, Azure platform preferred
  • Alteryx experience a plus
  • Experience with ETL/Development tools (Azure Data Factory preferred) necessary
  • Experience working with APIs for Cloud and SaaS solutions

The salary range for this position is included below. Individual salaries within this range are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location. Pay Range:

$86,350 to $140,000
