Job description

Principal Product Manager - Risk Assessment and Governance
As a Principal Product Manager for our Risk Assessment and Governance Program product lines, you will lead end-to-end product management efforts for one of our key strategic product areas. From discovery through design and delivery, you will execute on the product vision, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure we bring to market products that are valuable, viable, and usable. You’ll be both a strategist and an executor—driving business impact while deeply engaged in customer problems.  You’ll partner with customers, engineering, sales, customer success, and our CTS Ops team to ensure DefenseStorm remains the market’s “built for banking” leader in cyber risk management.  This role is ideal for a highly experienced product leader who thrives on ownership, user-centric thinking, and shaping product direction at both strategic and tactical levels.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the CPO, define and evolve a compelling product vision aligned with company objectives, customer needs, and market dynamics.

  • Translate vision into a clear, actionable strategy and roadmap for your product line.

  • Continuously research and analyze market trends, customer segments, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies.

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to bring external insights into the product planning process.

  • Be the expert in understanding users, their problems, and how we solve them.

  • Leverage toolset and insights to have continuous feedback loops with our users and customers.

  • Focus on rigorous assessment of customer value, business model alignment, and operational feasibility.

  • Quantify potential outcomes and influence prioritization decisions through a clear articulation of impact and trade-offs.

  • Partner with Product Designer (and lead design direction when needed) to ensure user experience is central to product development.

  • Participate in user interviews, usability testing, and persona development to advocate for the user throughout the lifecycle.

  • Translate business needs and user insights into clearly defined product requirements, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure cross-functional clarity and alignment through well-structured documentation and backlog grooming.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.

  • Serve as the product owner within engineering – own the backlog, own prioritization, and serve as the voice of the user within the development process.

  • In partnership with Product Marketing, align a structured cadence to ensure we have clear lines of communication to the proper stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Develop launch plans, messaging frameworks, and internal enablement materials.

  • Monitor product adoption and success metrics post-launch and drive iteration based on feedback.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or principal-level role at a SaaS company.

  • Background in cybersecurity, Regtech, regulatory compliance, or banking.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technology focused degree.

  • Deep experience with product discovery best practices, serving as a product owner, and user-centered design.

  • Excellent communicator, data driven, outcome oriented, inquisitive, and evangelistic.
