Job description

QA Director

Virtuozzo
builds high-performance virtualization, storage, and cloud technologies used by infrastructure providers around the world. We develop software that runs in demanding production environments, powering services where uptime, performance, and reliability are non-negotiable.

We’re
looking for an experienced
QA Director to lead our quality engineering strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on shaping how we test, validate, and continuously improve the quality of our products — from distributed systems and SaaS platforms to low-level infrastructure components.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership & Vision

  • Own the QA function across the company — setting strategy, defining standards, and aligning testing practices with the needs of a technically demanding product suite.
  • Guide the transformation of QA through test automation, observability, and shifting quality ownership earlier in the development lifecycle.
  • Define a testing strategy that covers all critical dimensions: functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Strategy & Execution

  • Build and maintain a scalable, automated testing framework to support fast, test-gated release cycles.
  • Lead the creation of performance benchmarks and reliability test suites.
  • Drive quality through metrics, regular reviews, and process refinement — promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

  • Grow and manage a cross-functional QA team — including SDETs, infrastructure engineers, and test specialists.
  • Provide mentorship to help team members advance technically and take ownership of quality in their domains.
  • Partner closely with R&D, product, and operations to align expectations and execution.

Automation & Tooling

  • Introduce modern QA tools and test automation frameworks — including intelligent observability, cloud-native test orchestration, and AI-assisted test generation.

Performance Lab & Research

  • Build a test infrastructure that mirrors real-world production environments, enabling realistic and scalable testing — including for competitor product evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Constructor University on joint research, working with professors and students on applied QA topics tied to Virtuozzo’s goals.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years in senior QA or quality engineering leadership roles, ideally in complex, high-load SaaS environments with a large user base.
  • Strong technical background in Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and SaaS platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing, performance and load testing, and test infrastructure design.
  • Familiarity with modern QA tools and frameworks — and a track record of successfully integrating them into engineering workflows.
  • Proven leadership in building, scaling, and mentoring highly technical QA teams.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — able to influence engineers, architects, and product stakeholders.
  • Clear, analytical thinking and a data-driven mindset for defining and tracking product quality KPIs.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred, but not required).
  • Professional fluency in English is required for cross-team collaboration and technical discussions.

What We Offer

  • Flexible hours and remote work options
  • Share Options- everyone shares in our success with share options
  • We help our team get private medical insurance
  • Supportive, engineering-driven culture with minimal bureaucracy
  • The chance to influence Product team and R&D decisions from day one
  • A smart, friendly team that values reliability, simplicity, and automation
  • Depending on your location and preferred employment method, other perks and benefits apply

If you’re ready to lead quality engineering at a company that builds the software behind real infrastructure, we’d like to hear from you.
