TMHCC Stop Loss, a $2 Billion division within TMHCC, leads the way in providing medical stop loss insurance sold to employers. Position Summary:

Performs complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of ledger accounts and the development of associated managerial reports and Statutory quarterly and annual statements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient utilization of in-house resources and applications including PeopleSoft, Sovos Stat Reporting software, data warehouse, Microsoft Office and other applications for timely reporting requirements.
  • Prepare various journal entries and other reoccurring tasks for timely period closing process.
  • Assist in preparation of selected statutory exhibits as required for annual and quarterly statement reporting.
  • Preparation of premium tax reporting, supplemental tax filings and related analysis.
  • Track reporting requirements and maintain consistent workflow metrics for purpose of streamlining.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as needed.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and post entries to general ledger accounts and to document business transactions.
  • Perform and review general ledger functions to assist with monthly accounting activity and closings.

Education, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 3-5 Years in relevant and progressive professional experience in Statutory Insurance accounting
  • Exposure to quarterly and annual statutory and regulatory reporting is a must.
  • Strong work ethic with dependable, consistent performance and effective time management skills.
  • Display independent analytical thinking and problem-solving ability based on sound judgement and decisions with attention to detail.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills with staff in cross functional areas and levels of management.
  • Motivated individual with a teamwork mindset to produce timely and accurate results.
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak demands periods.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and/or Statutory Accounting Principles
  • Possess and have ability to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company's business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Access, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is a must.
