As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for the precise installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables in commercial and industrial environments. Key Responsibilities
Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables, both aerial and underground.
Conduct end-to-end testing using OTDR, light source, and power meters.
Interpret splice diagrams, schematics, and engineering documents to perform accurate fiber assignments.
Install enclosures, terminals, panels, and other necessary fiber infrastructure components.
Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber networks, ensuring minimal downtime.
Label and document all completed splices and test results accurately.
Ensure all work complies with industry standards, codes, and customer specifications.
Work safely in outdoor environments, in bucket trucks, manholes, and in confined spaces.
Collaborate with construction crews, project managers, and inspectors as needed.
Maintain tools, vehicles, and safety equipment in good working condition.
Qualifications
2+ years of hands-on experience splicing fiber optic cable.
Proficient with OTDR, power meters, fusion splicers, and other fiber optic testing equipment.
Strong knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fiber and associated connector types.
Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, splice schematics, and construction blueprints.
Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
OSHA 10/30, Fall Protection, and Lift certifications preferred (or willing to obtain).
Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and safety mindset.
