Job description

Job Summary:

Who we are & what we do:

Under the parent company Volaris Group, Zupa is hiring a Financial Controller to join its UK-based team.

At Zupa we’re on a mission to simplify hospitality operations and help people thrive at work. We help food service operators across hospitality, leisure, education and care do what they do best – by reducing manual tasks, improving margins, and leaving far less room for error.

Our core product, Caternet, is one of the UK’s leading hospitality management platforms. Aiming to create a world where businesses run more efficiently, people are more engaged, and everyone gets to spend more time doing what they love. Whether it’s streamlining purchasing, simplifying admin, or unlocking real-time insights, everything we build is designed to remove friction, reduce complexity, and help hospitality teams focus on what really matters.

Zupa operates as part of the Volaris Group, alongside IndiCater. IndiCater offers a similar product, and both teams work closely together to deliver the very best for their clients and partners.

In this role, you will be supporting both companies in overseeing the financial function, build scalable processes, and work closely with the leadership team. You will also be working with colleagues in Volaris and ensuring our corporate reporting is accurate and on time.

Job Description:

The role:

We’re looking for a driven, process driven and detail-focused Financial Controller to lead and strengthen our finance operations. This is an important role with broad responsibility, designed to ensure our financial processes are robust, compliant, and ready to support the next phase of our growth.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll oversee the full spectrum of financial operations, from daily accounting through to strategic planning and risk management. You’ll also be the key contact for audits and regulatory compliance, ensuring everything runs smoothly and accurately behind the scenes.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, cost and inventory accounting, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions in compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management accounts, statutory accounts, and board reports.
  • Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting processes, producing variance analysis to support decision-making.
  • Manage the transaction processing system and liaise with group finance to consolidate financial results.
  • Implement and manage financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain a strong control environment.

Regulatory Compliance & Audits

  • Act as the lead for audit processes, building strong relationships with auditors and ensuring seamless delivery during audit cycles.
  • Ensure all relevant documents are filed with Companies House on time.
  • Manage regulatory compliance requirements, including:
    • Quarterly VAT returns
    • Payroll tax and pension processing
    • Annual P11D & PSA submissions
    • R&D relief claims
    • S455 corporation tax submissions

Strategic Financial Planning & Risk Management

  • Optimise company insurance contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and adequate coverage.
  • Oversee cash flow management, debt control, and risk management processes to protect and strengthen the company’s financial position.

Payroll & Employee Benefits

  • Take ownership of payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC and pension regulations.
  • Manage pension contributions and provide employee education on pension schemes.

Management

  • Manage the Finance Manager
  • Report upwards and work closely with the group CFO

Who you are:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a similar financial leadership role.
  • A strong technical background in financial and management reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Ideally a background within a SaaS organisation.
  • Previous experience working in a growing company, ideally within a remote or flexible working environment.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement.
  • A confident communicator, able to work cross-functionally and present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Tech-savvy, with solid knowledge of accounting systems and tools, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and always looking for smarter ways of working.

Why join Zupa:

  • An opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function and make a real impact.
  • A chance to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team, with opportunities for growth and development.
  • A remote environment offering flexibility and autonomy.
  • Quarterly company meet-ups.
  • Competitive salary, aligned with experience.
