Job description

Job Overview- 

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Automation & Tooling to lead a high-performing engineering team focused on enhancing and scaling our CI/CD infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and security teams to drive innovation and efficiency across our build, test, and deployment pipelines for cloud-native applications. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our software delivery processes through robust automation and modern tooling practices.

Your day, if you join us:

  • Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native technologies.
  • Manage a team of DevOps engineers, guiding delivery while staying technically involved in hands-on work.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, PowerShell, and related tools.
  • Oversee observability and logging integrations using Dynatrace to ensure high availability, performance, and traceability.
  • Drive standardization of release engineering, secrets management, container image management, and automated testing integration.
  • Work collaboratively across development, infrastructure, and compliance teams to support secure, scalable deployment pipelines.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, reliability, and proactive incident response.
  • Stay current with industry trends and recommend new tools and practices.

You meet our “must haves” for this role if you have:

  • 5–10 years of experience in DevOps or infrastructure engineering roles, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Proven expertise in cloud CI/CD and DevOps tooling; hands-on with GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments.
  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our DevOps, automation, and tooling initiatives across cloud platforms.
  • Architect frameworks for cloud deployments, ensuring alignment with cloud best practices, organizational standards, and governance requirements.
  • Guide engineering teams in designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions, providing architectural oversight and hands-on support
  • Proficient in Java or .NET, with strong scripting skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience building and managing infrastructure with Terraform.
  • Solid understanding of observability platforms; direct experience with Dynatrace preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS and/or Azure services, including networking, identity management, and security controls.
  • Experience supporting highly secure, compliance-driven environments (FedRAMP, ITAR, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across technical and business stakeholders.

    • Familiarity with container security tools and policy enforcement (e.g., OPA/Gatekeeper, Aqua, Prisma Cloud).
    • Background in regulated industries such as Aerospace & Defense or Life Sciences.
    • Must be able to obtain Exostar Trusted Role, and maintain Trusted Role status while employed in this role
    • AWS Certified
