Job description

Summary:

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development on the Learning & Development team will further elevate and optimize our learning ecosystem by cultivating a learning and teaching environment, designing and delivering impactful learning experiences, and producing quality performance resources.

This role will manage multiple projects and processes across the department, ensuring L&D provides high-quality development experiences for staff at all levels within the organization. This includes producing live learning sessions, designing and facilitating high-quality learning opportunities (both instructor-led and eLearning), and elevating program development and delivery across all aspects of L&D's work

  • The Senior Manager, Learning & Development reports directly to the Director, Learning & Development and has no direct reports.

Where and When You’ll Work

  • This remote-based position (which requires travel, as described below) is open to all eligible candidates based within the United States.

  • Occasional time outside of standard work hours may be required, ability to work evenings/weekends if a special circumstance arises.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% annually, as needed.

Compensation

The target hiring range is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee’s primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor.  You can view which zone applies to you based on your location (aspca.app.box.com/v/aspcazonetable). Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future. 
 

  • Zone 1: $75,000-$80,000 annually

  • Zone 2: $83,000-$88,000 annually

  • Zone 3: $91,000-$97,000 annually

Responsibilities:

Responsibility buckets are listed in general order of importance, and include but are not limited to:

Content Design and Production

  • Design, develop and/or facilitate instructor-led trainings that support organizational initiatives and goals

  • Oversee the workshop delivery process as a producer for L&D learning sessions – including logistical preparation, leading prep and debrief meetings with facilitators, providing technical support throughout live sessions, and handling any follow up to ensure a high-quality, learning-centric experience for participants and facilitators

  • Draft and/or edit learning content - review workshop presentations and program one-pagers, create workshop handouts & supporting materials to develop a consistent voice across written L&D content

Program Development

  • With Director, L&D, develop and deliver learning content for internal and external audiences, including people manager development, in alignment with department goals and organizational priorities

  • Lead the L&D workshop calendar process, from course selection and facilitator logistics to building in ASPCA Learn on a quarterly or bi-annual basis

  • Develop ASPCA Learn system recommendations for ILT courses and L&D content, and provide continued management of Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses in the system to meet evolving staff and team needs

  • Support team members in the launch and maintenance of staff development programs

Communications

  • Manage L&D communications, including for courses and programs, and find new ways to engage staff with upcoming learning opportunities

  • Promote social learning and engagement on the ASPCA's intranet platform, keeping L&D content shared on the platform up to date and exploring new ways to leverage the platform to support L&D programs

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager

Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent professional experience required

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience required

  • At least 2 years of professional experience using content authoring tools to develop eLearning content or instructional design to develop instructor-led training required

  • At least 2 years of experience developing and delivering learning content; experience developing and/or delivering learning content focused on people manager development and/or experience serving as a manager preferred

  • Experience working in a Learning Management Systems (LMS) strongly preferred

  • Experience managing multi-step/cascading projects or processes preferred
