We are looking for a driven, experienced, and organized Tax Director who is inspired by a high-growth environment and the opportunity to join Glossier’s Finance team. In this role, the Tax Director will report directly to the Corporate Controller and manage the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns, tax provision, and international income tax compliance and strategy. This is a critical role for the organization’s growth and will lead all aspects of tax for the Company.
6 Month Accomplishments:
- Become the go-to tax leader, acting as the internal and external point of contact for all tax-related inquiries and analysis
- Drive US sales tax compliance, including managing existing and future sales and use tax registrations, periodic audits, and overseeing sales and use tax filings
- Advise on tax impact of intercompany transactions,
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to analyze the tax, duty, and/or customs impacts related to the integration of new business activities or changes to existing operations.
- Investigate and resolve any tax authority notifications, domestic and international
- Management and oversight of filings made by 3rd parties
- Monitor future tax legislation, research the impact on the Company's financial position, and work with the Corporate Controller and external partners to advise on the best position to optimize tax planning
- Lead continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls, and quality
- Perform research and analysis on various tax issues
- Assist with ad hoc projects, as needed
12+ Month Accomplishments:
- Work with accounting team and other cross-functional business partners to develop processes to ensure compliance with use tax across all states, and perform regular review of use tax compliance
- Ensure international tax compliance and provide documentation when requested by third party accountants
- Manage, negotiate and finalize all state and local income, franchise, sales, use and property tax audits.
- Manage all federal and state income tax filings, including overseeing the calculation of the provision, developing processes to calculate and reconcile deferred tax assets and liabilities, and ensuring timely filing and payment of all extensions and returns.
- Oversee transfer pricing policies/compliance and monitor legal entities
- Plan and execute global tax strategies in compliance with regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting/Tax
- CPA required
- Broad-based tax compliance/accounting experience, including public accounting experience and corporate tax experience
- High proficiency in tax research and proposing recommendations
- Experience with International Tax, Treasury, and/or working within CPG and Retail companies is highly desired
- Exceptionally detail-oriented with an ability to think strategically while executing operationally
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn and problem solve, including taking initiative to propose solutions
- Creative, flexible, adaptable, and positive teamwork skills with an ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and willingness to manage new projects with tight deadlines
- High degree of skill in using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
