Trainee Service Engineer - London

FAFS Fire & Security specialise in designing, installing, commissioning and servicing automatic Fire Detection, Protection and Alarm Systems in and around Greater London. We are currently looking to appoint a Trainee Service Engineer specifically covering the London region.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation and minor works of fire alarm systems in commercial and residential properties.
• Support engineers with fault finding and system testing in line with BS5839 and other industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out and materials used.
• Follow health and safety procedures and company policies at all times.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Attend college/training courses as part of the apprentice programme.
• Learn to interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
• Consistently follow safe working practices and report hazards or incidents in line with company procedures.
• Ensure work is carried out to a high standard, assisting engineers in delivering compliant systems in accordance with BS5839 and other applicable standards.
• Actively participate in training activities and demonstrate progress through coursework and on-site performance.
• Represent the company professionally on-site and contribute to a positive client experience.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and take initiative to support their goals and engineer efficiency.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

• Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Practical, hands-on approach and good manual dexterity.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
• Good timekeeping and organisational skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills (e.g., using tablets/mobile phone for reports and documentation.
• Positive attitude and commitment to a long-term career in the fire safety industry.
