Important note:
For this role, we are looking for someone based in France and able to start around October.
About the company
As a market leader in Lead Generation Automation, we enable thousands of SMBs (Small and Medium-sized Businesses) to boost their growth by finding and connecting with their ideal customers on major social media platforms. We’re a bootstrapped, profitable PLG (product lead growth) startup (around 70 team members) serving customers worldwide (with the US as our largest market). Join us so you can enjoy working at a self-funded, profitable, and remote company!
About the role
We’re looking for a versatile Legal Counsel with strong skills in contract law (both French and international), IP, and data protection, capable of combining legal rigor with the ability to make the law accessible for non-legal teams. As the company’s legal right-hand, you’ll play a central role in securing operations and supporting our growth.
You’ll be more than just “the legal person” — you’ll be a trusted advisor, working closely with operations and embedded within our tight-knit General Departments Team (Legal, People, Finance). The role reports directly to the CEO.
Our business revolves around web scraping, a legally complex and fast-moving domain. While often misunderstood or stigmatized, lead generation through web data is a global norm for sales teams, so this industry is only growing.
This role calls for creativity, clarity, and adaptability, bridging conversations between tech teams, creatives, legal counterparts, and institutions. If you enjoy solving novel legal challenges and shaping how law meets innovation, you’ll thrive here.
For these activities, we are looking for someone between 3 and 5 years of experience, including working for a start-up, scale-up, or fast-growing tech company.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic legal guidance to the leadership team, helping shape decisions at the highest level.
- Handle litigation and pre-litigation matters with pragmatism, foresight, and creativity.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts in French or English.
- Design and structure legal processes, contributing to scalable and efficient legal operations and reinforcement of the company's legal culture.
- Be the go-to legal partner for French and international operational teams, responding to day-to-day requests with clarity and pedagogy.
- Conduct legal research, analyze, and mitigate legal risks as a trusted advisor.
- Cover a wide range of legal domains — from Corporate to Intellectual Property, GDPR, contract law, e-commerce, and any new challenge that arises with the company’s growth with the support of our external counsels.
- Manage business-related insurance contracts in coordination with our brokers.
- Manage the company’s law firms and the legal budget allocated with agility, intelligence, and constant reprioritization.
- Take part in high-impact moments of the company’s journey — including potential fundraising or strategic deals — where your role could evolve into leading and structuring a legal team as the business scales.
