Description
The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will provide both tactical and strategic directions to the maintenance employees, implement root cause analysis, perform task completion audits, complete after-action investigation; and implement corrective actions as needed to maximize equipment uptime and speed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will have oversight of a team of approximately 15 employees across multiple shifts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
- Develop and Maintain training programs for team members to enhance technical skills and improve performance.
- Allocate resources effectively and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
Maintenance Planning and Execution:
- Develop, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for all equipment and facilities.
- Oversee corrective maintenance and ensure that downtime is minimized by addressing failures quickly and effectively.
- Identify and prioritize critical maintenance tasks to support production goals and minimize disruptions.
- Institutionalize the use of CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) to track maintenance activities within the plant for tracking work orders, planned/predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory/sharing and MRO management.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting production schedules and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Technical Expertise and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support and guidance to the maintenance team in diagnosing and solving complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
- Ensure that the equipment is properly maintained to avoid breakdowns and ensure the highest level of performance.
- Stay updated on the latest industry technologies, trends, and best practices to continuously improve maintenance processes.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing unnecessary expenditures.
- Source and manage suppliers and vendors for maintenance-related products and services.
- Track and report maintenance costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring that proper safety protocols are followed during maintenance tasks.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives to prevent recurring equipment failures.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize production and maintenance processes.
Requirements
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field (preferred).
· Proven experience (15+ years) in a maintenance management role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Preferred Skills:
· Certification in Maintenance Management (e.g., CMRP, CRL) is a plus.
· Experience in managing cross-functional teams or projects.
· Strong background in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Physical Requirements
