Job description

Classification: Full Time
Location: Québec/Remote

Yellow Brick Games is seeking a Senior Hard Surface Artist with deep expertise in Unreal Engine to help bring our creative vision to life. You will be responsible for creating models, textures, and materials for hard surface architectures and props, ensuring the delivery of top quality assets, and meeting the project’s visual and technical quality requirements. As part of a smaller studio, we value autonomy, proactivity, and the ability to create and act on your own tasks to achieve exceptional gameplay experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of high-quality/ fidelity 3D Hard Surface Props, Architecture Kits and Vehicles.
  • Ensuring a productive and efficient workflow for the Environment Art team through excellent internal and external communication.
  • Close collaboration with the Art Director, Leads and Game Designers, to ensure the team works within the game’s visual style and gameplay mechanics.
  • Establish a prospering art culture within the Environment Art team, to strive for exceptional quality.
  • Push the visual and technical quality of the project to the next level
  • Ensure that you meet the expected artistic and technical quality standards.
  • Take initiative by proposing and developing innovative solutions to enhance the gameplay experience.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Hard surface Artist in game development.
  • At least one shipped game title in the PC or console space.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional understanding of current asset creation workflows.
  • A keen eye for industrial design, weapons, shape, and details.
  • Great organizational skills and the ability to anticipate problems and find solutions fast.
  • Expert skills in at least one 3D software package (Maya / Max / Blender), in addition to Zbrush.
  • Advanced knowledge of Substance Painter – Designer and Photoshop.
  • Full understanding of low poly / high poly baking and texturing pipeline.
  • Being able to adapt to a specific art style.
  • High degree of autonomy, with the ability to effectively create, manage, and complete your own tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
  • Finally, passion for video games and the gaming industry.
