Job description

Location: Québec/Remote

Yellow Brick Games is looking for a skilled and innovative Senior VFX Artist to join our game development team. The ideal candidate has a passion for crafting stunning, realistic visual effects and thrives at the intersection of artistry, technical skill, and collaboration. You will work closely with game designers, animators, and programmers to bring immersive gameplay experiences to life through high-quality real-time effects.

Responsibilities :

  • Design, create, and implement high-quality, realistic real-time VFX for environments, characters, gameplay moments, and cinematics using Unreal Engine and Houdini.
  • Work in close partnership with Art Direction, Game Design, Animation, and Technical Art teams to ensure VFX enhance gameplay and reinforce the project’s visual identity.
  • Use tools such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, Maya, and/or 3DS Max to concept, prototype, and polish effects.
  • Take ownership of VFX tasks from concept to final implementation, balancing performance and aesthetics.
  • Push the visual and technical quality of the project to the next level.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new VFX techniques and pipelines, while communicating effectively across disciplines to bridge creative and technical perspectives with clarity and empathy.

 

Requirements :

  • 3+ years of experience as a VFX Artist in the video game industry, with at least one shipped title.
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine’s Niagara, Houdini, and visual scripting.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a mastery of realistic real-time effects (e.g., fire, ice, snow, smoke, water, destruction, environmental effects).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools: Adobe Creative Suite (especially After Effects and Photoshop), Blender, Maya, and/or 3DS Max.
  • Deep understanding of timing, animation principles, lighting, and shader development for VFX.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about innovation, artistic expression, and creating unforgettable player experiences.
