The Data Engineer will provide hands-on experience with large-scale data ecosystems, particularly leveraging tools like Apache Spark and Databricks for distributed processing and analytics. Solid understanding of data transformation workflows, with practical experience designing and executing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines. Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or MilCloud 2.0, including deploying and managing data-centric applications in secure environments. Experience implementing DoD STIG compliance, including automating security configurations and ensuring systems align with federal cybersecurity standards. Competency in a variety of programming languages, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability across different development tasks and platforms. Proven ability to build and maintain data pipelines that support cross-domain operations, including workflows that span unclassified and classified network environments.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement solutions for integrating structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data sources into mission-driven systems that support analytics workflows and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Manage the end-to-end operational lifecycle of data movement processes, ensuring infrastructure security, application integrity, and system reliability through proactive monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Develop and maintain automated processes for system configuration and data workflow orchestration, utilizing the latest ETL tools and data engineering technologies.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, identifying opportunities for infrastructure enhancement, cost optimization, and operational automation to improve overall system performance.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of data engineering tools and practices, including database management, data modeling, and cloud-native architectures, to build and maintain scalable cloud environments via programmatic interfaces and vendor-specific platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore technical challenges, experiment with emerging technologies, and deliver robust solutions that support mission innovation and enhance system capabilities.
  • Write clean, scalable, and optimized code to support data pipelines and automation, contributing to system efficiency and maintainability.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, possible to substitute additional experience
