About You and this Role
We’re looking for a senior designer who has experience creating high-performing experiences that drive lead generation, brand engagement, and business impact. As Sr Product Designer you will collaborate with the other designers to own the user experience and visual identity of our primary site – liferay.com – in close partnership with our Web Marketing and Solutions team ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand experience that aligns with Liferay’s vision and values as well as our other web properties.
The unique challenge of this role is to understand the powerful capabilities of our platform, Liferay DXP, and create experiences that empower our Marketing and other internal teams to achieve their business outcomes. You will lead diverse projects for liferay.com, defining a design strategy with various stakeholders, and delivering with excellence through prototyping, designing, and optimizing the site. As a lead, you’ll discover new opportunities to evolve our web experience to be more effective in our brand storytelling and growing our business.
Key Objectives
Lead development and maintenance of design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure a consistent and cohesive user experience across all of Liferay’s web properties
Leverage the capabilities of our platform, Liferay DXP to create experiences that empower our Marketing and other internal teams to achieve their business outcomes.
Work with stakeholders and product managers to set roadmaps, determine features, and detail requirements that meet user needs
Lead creation of wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate user experience requirements and solutions capabilities to stakeholders and team members
Work closely with developers during implementation and conduct design reviews to ensure design quality and consistency
Ensure user research, user testing, and user feedback is gathered to inform design decisions and ensure a user-focused, data-driven design approach, iterate to improve KPIs and overall user satisfaction
Lead the design efforts for solutions, product trials, product demos, and miscellaneous artifacts that support Marketing and Sales teams in executing a product let growth strategy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and marketing, to establish project goals, objectives, and timelines and create user-centric designs that meet business objectives, user needs, and align with the overall company strategy
Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including product managers, developers, and executives, to create alignment and ensure that design solutions are comprehensive & cohesive
Required Qualifications
Communication skills: Arguably one of the most important skills a designer can have — excellent communication skills now more than ever, are a must. We work closely with multiple teams (marketers, developers, designers) in different locations around the world.
Eagerness to work with others: You’re going to work with a lot of different business units — marketing, sales, support, human resources, customer success, and probably more. The ability to empathize, connect, and succeed with people who are different from you is critical.
Lead by serving: This job will require working with multiple teams, competency in our products, and empowering others to create effective web experiences.
In addition to a solid foundation in product design here is what you’ll need to succeed here:
Three or more years of B2B experience creating products, not just sites, applying UX principles and WCAG accessibility standards
Experience optimizing websites for branding and demand creation objectives
Experience with reporting tools and methodologies, like Google Analytics
Solid understanding of SEO principles (page speed optimization, structured data, meta tagging, and information hierarchy)
Basic front-end skills (HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript) to support collaboration with developers.
Experience with maintaining design systems and component-based web design.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing & executing a global, multinational strategy
Experience at, or managing relationships with, an agency is strongly desired
Proven history of successfully managing people to achieve and exceed performance goals
Experience with A/B and multivariate testing
Process and metric-oriented
