Senior Backend Developer (AI)

We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to develop Generative AI initiatives that enhance and scale operational processes. In this role, you’ll design and implement intelligent systems that introduce new AI-based decision-making flows, bringing significant business impact. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify high-leverage opportunities for AI and take them from idea to production. This key position will shape how Papaya grows and operates in the years ahead.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, efficient, and maintainable AI solutions, ensuring best practices in code quality and system architecture.
• Research, experiment with, and integrate new AI technologies, tools, and frameworks.
• Take ownership of end-to-end project development, from requirements gathering to production deployment.
• Propose AI copilots and validate ROI through lean POCs.
• Work with a tech stack including AWS, Kubernetes, Node.js TypeScript, Redis, and MySQL.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience as a backend developer, working on scalable, high-performance systems.
• Hands-on experience with experimenting and introducing AI products.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript (or other relevant backend languages like Python or Java).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
