Job description

WHAT MAKES US EPIC?

At the core of Epic’s success are talented, passionate people. Epic prides itself on creating a collaborative, welcoming, and creative environment. Whether it’s building award-winning games or crafting engine technology that enables others to make visually stunning interactive experiences, we’re always innovating.

Being Epic means being a part of a team that continually strives to do right by our community and users. We’re constantly innovating to raise the bar of engine and game development.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
What We Do

The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.

What You'll Do

You will join the Save the World team in support of Fortnite. QA Programmers of all levels own the tactical planning and execution of testing against all highly technical systems across Epic Games products. You will create test plans, perform white box testing, create scripts, automated tests, and any other test materials needed to verify data to test the inner workings of programming-driven systems. The QAE is versed in various types of testing techniques and can speak to which techniques are best used for specific types of testing. In practice, they will split their time between creating test plans, performing deep white box testing in support of programming initiatives, analyzing processes for scriptable improvements, and adding to our automation test suites. You will also perform regular reviews of manual tests for automation candidates and will work with manual testers and analysts to uncover areas of improvement through scriptable solutions.

In this role, you will
  • Work with product stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features/releases
  • Contribute to existing automated testing frameworks, debug issues across different hardware and clients
  • Build base-level test plans based on technical requirements to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Generate analysis of outstanding defect load and recommend new areas of testing and areas to prioritize for fixes
  • Analyze, report, and track game client performance data. Use that data to drive conversations around product quality
  • Proactively manage incoming defects and work autonomously on highest-value tasks, be it test writing or test execution
  • Monitor test automation and build failures, triaging and escalating statuses to stakeholders
What we're looking for
  • 2+ years experience in Quality Assurance and/or testing
  • 3+ months experience programming with C++, Java, C# and/or automation using Python or similar technologies
  • Ability to confidently collaborate with senior members on technical topics and features
  • Ability to assess scope and requirements and help drive project timeline/milestones/plans
  • Software or games testing experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical understanding of web, mobile, or game technologies, including automation, functional, qualitative, and performance against consistently iterative development
