Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Vendor Manager to oversee our network of third-party vendors supporting ancillary health products. This role plays a key part in ensuring that vendor partnerships are optimized for performance, compliance, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in vendor management or benefit administration, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance (ERISA, Section 125, HIPAA), and the ability to manage service-level expectations across multiple stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned vendor partners delivering ancillary health products.
  • Foster productive, collaborative relationships to ensure high service quality and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and maintain scorecards aligned with KPIs.

Service Delivery Oversight

  • Monitor daily vendor activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in areas such as claims processing, eligibility, billing, and member communications.
  • Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Escalate unresolved issues as needed and drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all vendor operations are compliant with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, Section 125, and HIPAA.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and audit trails, including contracts, SLAs, and compliance certifications.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inquiries by gathering vendor documentation as needed.

Contracting & Procurement Support

  • Assist in evaluating and onboarding new vendors, including due diligence, RFP coordination, and implementation support.
  • Support contract negotiations and renewals, ensuring terms meet company and client standards.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track and analyze vendor performance metrics and utilization data.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on vendor analytics to inform business decisions and client strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with client services, compliance, finance, and IT to align vendor activities with overall business operations.
  • Help define and improve processes related to vendor onboarding, performance management, and integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in vendor management, benefits administration, or related roles in the healthcare or insurance space.
  • Strong understanding of ancillary health products (e.g., critical illness, hospital indemnity) and group benefits.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including ERISA, Section 125, and HIPAA.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and vendor management or CRM platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing third-party administrators (TPAs) or insurance carriers.
  • Knowledge of contracting, procurement, or vendor selection processes.
  • Familiarity with health plan operations and compliance best practices.

Compensation:  

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $90,000/year in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
