We help our customers with their cloud adoption by providing architecture, migration, optimization, machine learning, and even 24/7 support. We are a professional services firm providing services in software engineering and the cloud. We do Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management.

Metal Toad is a fully remote organization with all employees having the option to work from home. The candidate must be able to work between 8 AM and 5 PM Pacific Time (PST) from Monday through Friday.

Although Metal Toad is a remote company, we are currently seeking contractors residing in Brazil for this position.
Advanced to fluent English communication skills are essential for this role.

Job Description

The Frontend Developer position at Metal Toad requires experience with WordPress, Magento, OR PHP. The primary role of the Frontend Developer at Metal Toad is to build rich web applications that are beautiful and highly functional using the most elegant CSS/HTML/JavaScript techniques available. This position offers a great opportunity for someone proactive, adaptable, collaborative, highly focused, and excited by both diverse new challenges and production work alike. The ideal candidate takes ownership and initiative of assigned tasks, is detail-oriented, and is comfortable working across shifting priorities and differing levels of ambiguity to find solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning

• Able to adapt to a dynamic and collaborative work environment, make independent decisions, and communicate them effectively.
• Confirms project requirements by reviewing program objectives, input data, and output requirements with PMs, supervisors, and clients.
• Provides estimates based on requirements, wireframes, and designs.

Development

• Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Work as part of a team.
• Code conforms to best practices.
• Appreciate the value of well-tested code.
• Perform peer code reviews.
• Create projects that are free of major defects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience in WordPress, PHP OR Magento development, including custom theme and plugin development.
• Scripting experience with PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress hooks/filters.
• Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST API integration for WordPress development. 
• Experience with web accelerators, load balancers, reverse proxies, and CDNs.
• Problem solver and willing to work in an agile/fast-paced environment.
• Customer-oriented with good communication skills.

Nice to have:

• AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification.
