Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an experienced Account Executive to join our growing team in Portland, OR. This is a remote role and is open to candidate working in the Eastern Time Zone.

The Account Executive is responsible for managing account reviews, actively brokering new surety accounts, fostering book growth, and delivering customer service support to the sales team. Success in this role relies on a strong grasp of the surety market, products, and competition. Compensation may include a base salary plus a discretionary bonus. Account Executives are given specific revenue growth objectives and are expected to utilize their decision-making abilities and discretion when acquiring and renewing accounts.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Manage and grow an existing book of business, actively identifying and pursuing new opportunities.

  • Provide comprehensive customer support to both decision-makers and day-to-day technical representatives.

  • Identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities in collaboration with producers

  • Monitor customer service levels and aid with claim issues as needed.

  • Proactively address and resolve customer complaints, problems, and issues.

  • Foster teamwork and effective communication among all customer service personnel, surety underwriters, and producers.

  • Ensure optimal utilization of internal resources and introduce new surety products/processes to enhance customer experience.

  • Develop and oversee tailored surety programs, grounded in a deep understanding of customer needs.

  • Prepare compelling customer presentations and new business strategies, including proposals that align with customer requests and requirements.

  • Schedule and conduct regular meetings with customers at an appropriate frequency.

  • Present proposals to customers, ensuring relevant team members and resources are present or represented.

  • Assist Customer Account Managers with receivables collection.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with surety markets.

  • Stay current on marketplace changes and proactively inform customers as necessary.

  • Develop specialized expertise within a declared sector or market area through networking and professional development.

License and Certifications:

  • Maintain a current Property and Casualty License

Skills and Experience to be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in the field of business or financial related field is preferred with at least four (4) years of related surety experience; other combinations of work and/or education will be considered

  • Advanced understanding of surety and business terminology is preferred

  • Exhibits an exceptional telephone presence and above-average empathy, adept at understanding subtle communication cues and responding accordingly. Possesses strong, consistent, and assertive communication skills.

  • Highly self-confident and able to effectively navigate and overcome rejection.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office 365 applications

Pay Range

100,000 - 120,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
