Job description

Overview: 

SageSure, the insurance first, tech-forward, capital-lite managing general underwriter that focuses on the underserved, preferred homeowners middle-market, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test.  This role plays an important part in our company’s Software development process. Our ideal candidate will have a strong customer focus, is passionate about continuous quality improvement and highly committed to creating world class automation for feature testing and regression. This person will serve as a project team member and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to less experienced individuals. 

This role will work with Technical and Business groups to define the scope of testing required, research new tools and testing approaches and execute upon/monitor the implementation of such items 

What you’d be doing: 

  • Responsible for testing through the entire lifecycle of a project, including test case development, execution, and verification, ensuring adherence to quality standards.  
  • Work with the development team to prioritize automation efforts and build comprehensive test suites to ensure the quality of software development.  
  • When part of scrum team, ensure stories are well-defined and contain clear acceptance criteria.  
  • Analyze formal test results to discover, log, and report any defects or configuration issues. Identify automation opportunities and develop test automation for applicable test types.  
  • Communicate test progress, results, and relevant information to stakeholders and management.  
  • Setup software defects lifecycle and defect tracking tools, then identify trends and recommend options. 
  • Provide project management with testing effort estimates for project planning and scheduling purposes. 

We’re looking for someone who has: 

  • Experience with automated test frameworks for web applications and backend services.  
  • Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies, identifying test coverage gaps and improvements.  
  • Experience writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.  
  • Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD.  
  • Hands-on experience in: Selenium, Python, Open API, Git, Jira, and modern delivery frameworks and tools.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a remote/distributed team, prioritizing workload, and deliverables within schedule constraints.  
  • Support culture of quality by integrating with development tools like Jira and Gitlab, which improve collaboration between developers, software QA and product QA to make the impact of testing more visible. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related area or equivalent experience.  
  • 5-7 years of experience testing in agile companies/projects.  
  • Automated script design, coding, debugging and maintenance skills.  
  • Demonstrable understanding of REST API.   
  • Experience with REST, SOAP and JSON.   
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Highly preferred candidates also have: 

  • Insurance and/or Financial Industry experience.  
  • Experience in performance, load, and security testing methodologies and tools.
