Job description

This role designs, leads, and oversees the planning and analytics of team projects. Serves as a subject matter expert inanalytics and supports enterprise objectives in order to achieve overall strategic business goals. Drives achievement of financial objectives through projection, analysis, and monitoring execution of strategic initiatives. Leads the development of the assigned business plans and forecasts and directs the coordination of financial reporting and processes. Collaboratively plans, develops, tests, implements, and monitors predictive or prescriptive analytics solutions to strategic business problems to drive future innovation. Leverages specific business segment, function, and process knowledge using a deep understanding of business data and advanced analytics to identify ways to improve profitable growth.

Essential Job Functions
  • Directs development of strategic vision through financial and strategic plans. Builds detailed financial business cases for the Strategy Execution Team (SET) projects and syndicates with finance. Evaluates and analyzes the progress towards accomplishment.
  • Leads the financial impact assessment pre project phase. Supports senior leadership and executive team in the evaluation, prioritization and ranking of projects and capabilities.
  • Responsible for long-range forecasting and projections of financial results. Effectively communicates and presents results of predictive and prescriptive analytical solutions to model acceptors, key stakeholders, and business leaders through presentations and executive summaries.
  • Offers perspectives, strategies and alternatives to reach the desired business outcomes. Promotes and defends business interests when interfacing with internal customers, including senior leadership.
  • Engages and partners with senior level stakeholders to evaluate potential risks and course of action ensuring effective communication and deliverables are met.
  • Directs financial activities such as identifying and quantifying potential opportunities, financial modeling, and ongoing reporting and analysis. Leads all department reporting and analysis which may include scorecards, market planning, development, and performance monitoring.
  • Analyzes and reports trends to department leadership. Leverages findings and ideas to inform related strategy recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates regularly with senior executives and managers to understand/prioritize analytical needs. Creates, evaluates, and proposes analytics solutions to strategic business problems.
  • Communicates the ongoing business benefit impact as well as model performance tracking for assigned analytical projects and act on the measure of success insights. Collaborates regularly with senior leaders to understand and prioritize analytical needs and to deliver solutions and drive implementation.
  • Responsible for operational and strategic measurement. Works closely with other advanced analytic teams across the enterprise to gather in-depth findings and presents findings to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Creates new reporting requests and relays new reporting needs to key stakeholders and analytics team. Generates new and innovative applications for existing concepts.
  • Fosters data-centric approaches, and supports data-driven decisions through a deep understanding of business data and advanced analytics.
  • Remains informed of the latest developments, techniques, tools and processes within the analytic space. Initiates and leads change within a complex environment by creating new, effective solutions to maximize performance. Interacts regularly with senior leadership and provides strategic insights based upon predictive modeling/reporting.
  • Clearly articulates goals, measurables objectives and investments, and business performance. Partners closely with other departments on overall strategy to ensure deliverables are met. modeling/reporting.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years demonstrated experience in insurance analytics, accounting, auditing, and/or financial analysis and forecasting/projections including positions such as business unit or territory financial roles required.
  • Strong strategic problem solving skills and comfortable dealing with complex analysis required.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related area required.
  • Advanced professional designations such as CPA, CMA,CFA, FLMI, FSA, and CLU, or an advanced college degree (MBA) preferred.
