Job description

The Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) is a not-for-profit research and development (R&D) organization accelerating the development of new and improved treatments for drug-resistant infections. GARDP works with partners to ensure sustainable access to treatments, promoting responsible use and affordability to all in need.


GARDP’s mission is to bring together the public and private sectors to develop new treatments for bacterial infections. We ensure responsible and sustainable access, addressing the public health impact of antibiotic resistance.

Overall Purpose:

The SECURE initiative, a collaboration between GARDP and WHO, aims to improve access to effective antibiotics with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Now entering its implementation phase, SECURE is focused on optimizing antibiotic portfolios, ensuring supply security, improving purchasing transparency, and safeguarding antibiotic effectiveness.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will lead GARDP’s contributions to SECURE, overseeing project management and partnership development. Working closely with the Director of Global Access, s/he will refine strategy, coordinate multi-organizational efforts (including with the WHO), and implement specific interventions. Responsibilities also include internal coordination with GARDP teams (Executive Office, Business Development, CMC) and contributing to GARDP’s broader access strategy.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

·       Lead the GARDP contributions to the SECURE initiative

·       Lead the collaboration with WHO on SECURE and represent GARDP with respect to SECURE

·       Manage GARDP’s involvement and contribution to SECURE.

  •   Independently develop, manage, and maintain strategic partnerships, including with national governments and regional entities.
  •   Design and implement select SECURE interventions, including market shaping and access interventions.
  •   Coordinate the core SECURE working group with WHO and other partners.
  •   Contribute to internal strategy and alignment across GARDP teams.
  •  Continue to refine SECURE tools such as the SECURE forecasting model
  • Support countries to use SECURE tools and iterate the tools based on user feedback
  • Contribute to the Antibiotic Market Shaping Working Group, SECURE’s market coordination forum
  • Identify and manage partners to support robust economic analyses to evaluate the SECURE model and potential SECURE interventions
  • Works with the External Affairs team on SECURE communications and on resource mobilization
  • Monitors and reports on SECURE intervention progress, milestones, and deliverables
  • Develops lessons learned and best practices to inform future work
  • Work with the External Affairs team of GARDP to develop funding proposals

 ·       Support the Global Access team

  • Represent GARDP at congresses, conferences or during bilateral discussion with key stakeholders
  • Develop reports, and support the production of manuscripts for publication
  • Work with the external affairs team to develop language for communications
  • Work with the external affairs team to develop high-level health economic analyses for grants, where required

  Experience and Education

·       High Level University Degree, Master Education or equivalent

·       Minimum of 8 years' experience in drug distribution, procurement, pricing and/orSout access to medicines work, preferably in Low and Middle Income Countries

·       Experience developing and implementing market shaping interventions, preferably to support access of health products in low- and middle-income environments

·       Experience or good understanding in performing health economic analyses

·       Broad understanding of the multidisciplinary functions contributing to effective and efficient drug development and access

·       Significant Cross-functional work experience (proven ability to led and manage multiple tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment - comfortable working across functional areas and at varying levels of the organization

·       Strategic thinking and operational vision

·       Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure

·       Unwavering commitment to quality with the ability to achieve strategic objectives

 

Other Requirements

·       Fluent in English with excellent English writing skills

·       Good knowledge of Microsoft Suite
