Job description

 

We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) who will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Professor. The Research Assistant will primarily assist with the day-to-day logistical and technical tasks related to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and computational linguistics into tuberculosis (TB) screening and treatment efforts. This role will focus on leveraging large language models (LLMs) and machine learning to develop AI-powered health screening tools. Tasks will largely be remote but may require collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including public health experts and data scientists.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • The RA will assist in the development and adaptation of AI-driven models for TB screening and treatment decision support.
  • Assist in optimizing natural language processing (NLP) models for analyzing clinical data and automating health communication.
  • Support data collection and processing, ensuring the AI models are trained on high-quality, unbiased TB-related datasets.
  • Assist in developing ethical AI implementation strategies for TB screening, particularly in low-resource settings.
  • Follow established research protocols, including compliance with ethical guidelines for AI in healthcare.
  • Assist in drafting reports, technical documentation, and research papers for dissemination of findings.
  • RA will follow established research protocols and complete training as needed.
  • RA will complete all other duties as assigned and work closely with the research program coordinator to ensure completion of all research-related activities.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, AI, or a related field with relevant experience in AI applications in healthcare.
