Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and solutions-oriented IT Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the implementation of IT governance best practices across multiple process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring practical knowledge of governance frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement. This full-time role is ideal for someone eager to grow while contributing to strategic change initiatives across the IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the formalization of IT communication plans to ensure clarity, alignment, and transparency across stakeholder groups
  • Support the design and implementation of consistent feedback mechanisms, gathering input from stakeholders to guide governance improvements
  • Contribute to the integration of PMOs and governance structures, ensuring alignment between project delivery and enterprise IT objectives
  • Help update the Integrated IT Governance Guidebook (IITGB), incorporating federal guidelines and internal best practices
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and working groups to gather input and drive continuous improvement
  • Document processes, prepare reports, and present findings to internal leadership as needed
  • Conduct and analyze stakeholder satisfaction surveys and interviews to gather governance insights
  • Assist in creating and maintaining governance documentation, processes, and workflows
  • Support the alignment of governance processes with key IT management disciplines including EA, portfolio management, and budgeting
  • Contribute to the identification, selection, and review of IT initiatives subject to governance oversight
  • Support metric development (e.g., KPIs), data collection, and reporting to assess governance effectiveness
  • Facilitate decision-making processes, process rationalization, and tool optimization across the governance lifecycle
  • Maintain and update enterprise governance guidance, policies, and playbooks
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Public Administration, Business, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience supporting IT governance, IT project management, or related functions
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, or NIST
  • Strong communication, analytical, writing, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and contribute within cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, MS Teams)
  • Experience gathering data through surveys, stakeholder interviews, or needs assessments
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working in or with government agencies or regulated industries
  • Exposure to enterprise IT portfolio management, risk mitigation, or compliance initiatives
  • Knowledge of federal IT budgeting and governance cycles is a plus
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, or NIST
  • Experience supporting or developing enterprise training programs
  • Knowledge of federal IT governance structures and documentation standards
  • Understanding of performance measurement tools and KPI tracking
  • Experience in process improvement, change management, or IT policy development
  • Exposure to enterprise-level IT tools for data analysis and reporting (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
