Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating the implementation of the quality management program. Collaborates appropriately to support ongoing. Performance Improvement initiatives for the Hospital.

                         

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and coordinates Quality Management and Performance Improvement activities with all departments including hospital, nursing and physician leadership providing patient care.
  • In collaboration with medical staff leadership, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) and hospital leadership, develop and implement actionable items to drive improvements related to hospital safety and quality outcomes.
  • Works with medical staff department leadership on professional practice including but not limited to initial, focused and ongoing evaluations, and peer review activities.
  • Performs comprehensive concurrent and retrospective reviews based on approved medical staff criteria.
  • Interprets regulations to identify elements of patient care to be monitored and the monitoring criteria; and to establish systems and processes to ensure compliance with agency requirements.
  • Collects and aggregates data for ongoing monitoring and evaluation by medical staff leadership and clinical department. Provides follow up to ensure correction of identified problems. Identifies trends to prioritize and recommend improvements.
  • Educates and evaluates medical, clinical, nursing and support department staff regarding quality management regulations, improvements and standards of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Engineering or related field.

Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred.
  • Current valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license is preferred.
  • Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Demonstrates initiative, ability to work with others and good professional judgement.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Work Experience:

  • Three years of patient care experience required.
  • Three years of experience in Quality Improvement preferred.
  • Clinical experience preferred.
  • Offset:  High School diploma/GED and eleven years of recent clinical experience.
  • Offset:  Associate’s degree and nine years of recent clinical experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires extensive sitting and dexterity to perform work on a PC.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate personal computers and standard office machines.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
