Job description

As a Senior Graphic Artist with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, you will form a key part of a new creative studio within established business. Company expects Game Artists to have strong illustration skills along with a solid grasp of layout and UI design. They will often be required to work collaboratively with other artists or department, so solid communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showing experience in both concept art and game design as well as animation. They will also be self-motivated and have a keen eye for quality. As a Game Artist, you will be responsible for creating the visual elements of slot machine games, including symbols, backgrounds, and user interface elements, while utilising Spine for character and asset animations. Your primary focus will be on developing high-quality, captivating, and interactive 2D game art that enhances the player experience.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Game Art Creation: Design and create visually stunning 2D game art assets such as symbols, backgrounds, buttons, and other visual elements in line with the game's theme and style;
Spine Animation: Utilise Spine, a 2D skeletal animation software, to animate characters, symbols, and other in-game assets, ensuring smooth and engaging animations;
Conceptualisation: Collaborate with the game design and development teams to conceptualise and refine game concepts and themes, ensuring that the visual style aligns with the game's overall vision;
Graphic Optimisation: Optimise artwork and animations for performance, ensuring that the games run smoothly on various platforms, including mobile devices and web browsers;
User Interface Design: Create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces, including menus, buttons, and information panels, to enhance the overall user experience;
Quality Control: Conduct thorough testing and quality control to ensure that the game's visual elements and animations work as intended and are free of glitches or inconsistencies;
Asset Management: Organise and manage art assets efficiently, maintaining a structured library and version control for easy access by the development team.
What you'll need to have:
Minimum 5 years of art and animation production or related experience;
Proven experience as a 2D game artist, with a portfolio demonstrating strong artistic skills and the ability to work in a wide variety of visual styles;
A degree in graphic design, illustration, game design, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience and a strong portfolio can be equally valuable;
Proficiency in Spine or similar 2D animation software;
Strong understanding of design principles, colour theory, and animation techniques;
Familiarity with the slot game genre, its conventions, and player expectations;
Solid knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite);
Ability to work within tight deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements;
Strong communication and collaboration skills are required to work effectively in a team.
