Job description

Stillwater Sciences seeks an on-call California Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS). We are flexible on location in California; the candidate may work out of any of our CA offices (Arcata, Berkeley, Davis, Morro Bay, Ventura, Los Angeles) or work fully remotely.


The PLS will be responsible for:

  • Independently performing survey-related duties including boundary surveys, setting survey control monuments, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
  • Creating accurate signed and stamped maps, records of survey and plans for various projects.
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to land surveys.

Ideal applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge in geology, geomorphology, and/or civil engineering.
  • Experience in construction support.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with GNSS and robotic total station surveying.
  • Knowledge and experience conducting single beam and/or multibeam hydrographic surveys is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Trimble survey software (Access and Business Center) and workflows is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience managing field survey crews is a plus.

Required qualifications include:

  • Active CA PLS (Professional Land Surveyor) License.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Licensed PLS.
  • 2+ years of survey-related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must live in the United States and possess a valid work authorization.

 

Compensation and Application Details:

  • On-call, non-exempt position.
  • Base hourly rate $36.00 - $56.00*
    • *Some work may be at prevailing wage rates that exceed the posted range. 
  • Base pay rate is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Out-of-town work and travel to sites around California required.
